Tumors of the central nervous system are a major condition in the pediatric age, either by their frequency or as a cause of death in this age group. Within these, juvenile pilocytic astrocytoma, is the most common glioma and also has a high cure rate if it is detected early.

The following article aims to describe a case of juvenile pilocytic astrocytoma of classical presentation detected in primary health care. It leaves in evidence how a high clinical suspect allows an early diagnosis and therefore make an effective and timely treatment.

Key words: Central nervous System, glioma, juvenile pilocytic astrocytoma, clinical suspect, timely diagnosis, expansive process of the posterior fossa, neuroimages.
